Personal History Thayara was the daughter of a high ranking Jaffa warrior under the service of Moloc. She grew up as most Jaffa females did, loyal service to her god, seeking to be perfect and faithful. She was considered for temple service as she began to develop. She had begun to carry a symboyte and was excited for the chance to serve in the highest way a female Jaffa could. When she met Moloc he had become suspicious of a number of possible Sholva around him. He tested every potential priestess for their loyalty. Thayara did not exactly fail his test, but she was so determined to be perfect that she showed nervousness when standing before her god.

Moloc saw it but he also saw a driven spirit in her. He commanded her to serve him in other ways and he would spare her life, unlike the other girls who had not impressed him that day, who were all put to death. Terrified that he could change his mind, Thayara returned home and laid herself at her fathers feet pleading that he help her show her faithfulness. The fact Moloc had not seen past her nerves and ignored her faithfulness was the seed that put doubt in her heart. Her father wished to help her and so sought out a strong Jaffa warrior to court her. Orith was a strong Jaffa. Traditional in every way, fiercely loyal to Moloc. As Thayara grew older she learned to fight, and hunt. These were skills that her father felt here important, and it impressed Orith.

Orith was overjoyed to take Thayara as his wife. He considered the sparing of her life as a sign that Moloc had other plans for Thayara, and that she had been blessed by his presence. Unable to argue the logic, Thayara allowed herself to fall for Orith and quickly married him. Orith was good to her, his fierce loyalty to his god was a part of Oriths character and therefore transferred to his wife. Thayara returned the loyalty and worked hard to be a leader among her peers and other women in the community. Despite not being a priestess she visited the temple often seeking ways to serve and gained many friends among the priestesses.

It was believed that because of her continual seeking to serve Moloc that Thayara was blessed with a son. This came as a great relief to both Orith and Thayara, as Moloc had recently declared all female children to be sacrificed. This edict had caused a great number of sholva to reveal themselves and most disappeared, Including a number of her friends at the temple. This greatly disturbed Thayara, but she focused on her son, teaching him with Orith to be a great Jaffa. Maybe one day her son Allon may become great enough to be considered a First Prime, both Orith and Thayara wished to give their son that dream, something to work for.

When Thayara fell pregnant again she found she carried two souls. This was not a common thing and she was nervous, however her husband was determined she would give them two more sons. Orith was right. Rone and Jendar were born and were vocal little warriors from their first breaths. This gained her a lot of favor, as she was seen to be exceedingly blessed by Moloc. Many began to whisper she was blessed by their god when she had interviewed with him to be a priestess. This both bolstered her confidence but also put on her a lot of pressure. She had 3 sons and was getting attention, and yet she could not shake her questions as to why, if she was so blessed by Moloc, why had he rejected her. Why had he not seen her worth? Was he all knowing and all seeing?

Orith rejected her doubts and questions. He pointed to their sons and told her to focus on them, and that Moloc must have rejected her to free her to give him strong Jaffa boys, and it was a better form of service. Still the doubts weighed on her, but she bottled them up as to not let Orith suspect her doubts lingered.

For two more years she continued to raise her boys, teaching them all she could of their way of life, not giving them any room for the same doubts that she quietly held. When she fell pregnant yet again the community rejoiced. Orith rejoiced, but Thayara was afraid. Surely her blessing would not last, not with the seeds of doubt growing in her heart.

As she grew with child her doubts grew. She heard troubles among the gods, servants and Jaffa turning away. Her friends were still missing, and she came to discover that priestesses had been going missing for a long while, and yet they lived. Moloc hunted them, but yet they lived. If he was a god how was this so?

When her daughter was born, Thayara screamed, and Orith dropped to his knees. Having been the father of 3 he knew the love of a child, and the knowledge they would have to surrender their child to the temple for sacrifice devastated them both. Thayara wished to name their daughter, but Orith declined, not wanting to name a child who would die within days, and he could not love. She pleaded with him to help her find a way to save their daughter. For two nights Orith wrestled within himself, while they concealed the birth to ensure no one would report the girl.

After two days Orith told her he could not betray Moloc and they were dangerously close to betrayal as it was. They had to surrender their daughter to sacrifice. Thayara was devastated and angry. If Moloc even knew of their child's birth how come he had not sent Jaffa already to retrieve her? If he so blessed Thayara why curse her now with a daughter? Orith could not answer these questions, and their fight became so intense Orith left their house to consider how to handle this. Afraid for their daughter, Thayara bundled her up and stole out of their village and in to the woods. She pleaded with Moloc, hoping he would hear her and offer her mercy once again and not demand her daughters life.

It was in the woods that someone heard her pleas and approached. It was a temple priestess, a lower one, but a priestess non the less. It was a woman Thayara had known since they were both children. She quickly told Thayara not to be afraid and asked her some questions. These questions pressed at Thayaras doubts, but in the end she made Thayara an offer. She could take the girl, report her sacrifice but she would live hidden away.

Thayara found a stirring of hope in her heart and agreed, only if she could go with her daughter. The priestess nearly declined, but then reconsidered. She asked her more questions, and helped Thayara fully decide that she no longer believed Moloc was a god. Her friend explained other things to her that helped Thayara understand, and it all made so much more sense.

Thayara was left with a choice. Surrender her daughter and return to her sons, or go with her daughter, and never see her sons again until Jaffa were free from the gods. The choice shattered her, but knowing her sons would live, she opted to go with her daughter.

This was how Thayara became a member of the Hak’tyl, a group of women, many former priestesses who fled from Moloc because of his decrees over female children. Thayara named her daughter Azed, which meant Free. She threw herself in to the support and cause of the Hak’tyl and soon became a scout and hunter for the group.

It was on a scouting mission that she met the Tauri, and discovered they might help her, and her kind to gain full freedom from the false gods.
