On her right shoulder, typically out of view unless in a sleeveless shirt, and owing to her sense of humor, she has a tattoo of a seal with a goofy empty smile, wearing a sailor cap, and holding an MP5K between its fins (those who have seen Ranger Up's animated works would identify it as the character "Sealy")

Personality & Traits

General Overview n casual settings, Michelle will first gauge those she's with before deciding to open up or not. She can be very funny, cracking jokes about various situations or reciting humorous lines from various pop culture sources, but she can also be quite serious. She does tend to have the view of trusting most people after some getting to know them, which does make her more approachable but also means that her trust in people has been broken by letting them make that move. She tends to deflect the problems of being a minority in the Special Operations community with humor, but those who cause major issues tend to earn her ire fairly quickly.

She has very strong ties to her immediate family Michelle is very protective of her younger sister, and maintains regular contact with both of her parents and siblings. Nearly losing her brother a few years ago while he was dealing with a particularly dangerous highway accident reinforced to her the importance of family.

In the field, Michelle does still keep her sense of humor around, but is also deeply committed to her teammates and the success of the mission. If told to choose between the mission and the team, though, she would put the team first. That said, she isn't above taking chances, leading to the cementing of her nickname "Gambler" (originally coming from her being from Las Vegas). She uses humor as a means of defusing tension and coping with the grueling strains of missions, and when she stops cracking jokes about a situation, that typically indicates that it has affected her on a very personal level.
Strengths & Weaknesses Perhaps Michelle’s greatest asset and weakness is her willingness to put herself in harm’s way before others. Her file points to someone who will never order others to do what she cannot and if the risk is too great, she will do it herself rather than risk someone else’s life. This has flagged her for further evaluation should she move up in the Navy, as that is not a luxury a senior officer can afford as they move up.

There is little doubt of her competency as a leader or as an operator, especially since she was picked up by the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU). Her attitude seems to be that she trusts those around her to know their jobs, give them the confidence to do their jobs, but help those who struggle. Those who don’t pull their own weight deliberately tend to earn her ire fairly quickly.

Her sense of humor and “nerd culture” view on things can be seen as either an asset or a liability, depending on those she works with, but Michelle generally can find common ground with most people she talks to. She does seem to at times have introverted tendencies, but most find this understandable.
Ambitions Right now, living life in the present is Michelle’s main goal, and being basically handed her dream job means she isn’t keen to go anywhere anytime soon. Sure, maybe she makes it to full Commander and retires or somehow makes it into the Admiralty and becomes the first female “Bullfrog” (which she’s joked would be odd but she’d keep the title out of respect for tradition), but who knows.
Hobbies & Interests Michelle is a sci-fi geek at heart. Name a series, she probably has watched it several dozen times. She does have a bit of a gamer streak, though she tends to favor things not as much in line with what she does in real life, so favoring RPGs and Racing games. She’s also a fan of cars. She laments having to leave behind her two personal vehicles for this assignment.

Many have commented that a lot of what she does in her spare time conflicts with what she does for a career, which Michelle does attribute to that it makes sense to her - don’t bring work home with you.

Personal History Michelle is the oldest of three, born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, she ended up being fairly rebellious in her youth, not wanting the pressure of being the oldest sibling and setting the example. Life in Las Vegas, though, was ready to drag her down a dark path as a result. When she was 16, her best friend was paralyzed in a drunk driving accident and that prompted Michelle to change her views. She desperately now wanted to fleet the city and felt the military would be her best avenue.

The attacks in 2008 held no small degree of terror for the 18 year old, but captured her imagination. Out there was her chance to live the fantasies she’d only seen on TV. And she wanted in on that future. Michelle decided to heed advice given to her and pursue a degree first to improve her chances, and ended up joining UNLV’s NROTC program to cover her schooling. By 2012, she was an Ensign in the US Navy and had options before her. Since her first choice, the SEALs, were barred to women, she went Intelligence.

Michelle was accepted into Naval Intelligence training, with a recommendation from her instructors to be assigned to work on threat assessment teams at Kennedy Irregular Warfare Center. In order to give her a chance to take on more critical roles, Michelle was permitted to take courses at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, before returning back to her duties. Shle developed a good rapport with the SEALs she worked with, but gender restrictions kept her from joining them, much to the chagrin of many of the SEAL commanders she worked with. But in 2016, she was finally permitted to enter SEAL training, fighting harder than any other trainee to finally pass and become a fully rated SEAL.

She was quickly picked up by SEAL Team 3 and deployed in 2017 to northern Iraq, where she helped to provide training and guidance to Kurdish female combat units. This gave her a taste of combat firsthand, to see the battlefield as a soldier, not through electronic eyes. However, she did well, earning the respect of those she was helping. However, she was not able to return, though she would be sent out on several clandestine assignments for the next 2 years. By this time, one of the commanders she worked with while she was in ONI recruited her to the Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

Most of what she would do here was largely small clandestine operations, but it was also a try-out of sorts, because she was then approached with yet another offer. One that once she was briefed on, she couldn’t sign her name fast enough.
