Personality & Traits

Personal History Matt Lane was born in a pine plantation town in somewhere-USA. It seems so long ago that even he doesn't remember. At the age of 18, he left for college, enrolling in a computer science degree, though found that academic life didn't agree with him. Instead, after spending years in JROTC as a youngster, the young Lane found himself at Annapolis as a midshipman instead.

On an irreversible course to becoming a Marine, the young and burgeoning officer specialised in the Intelligence field. At the turn of the millenium, Lane served at the Defence Intelligence Agency as an analyst. This comprised mostly of keeping an eye on post-Cold War Russia and the ever-growing threat of Middle-Eastern terrorism.

Proceeding 9/11, Lane put in a request for a transfer to the infantry. He, like many others, felt a strong call to avenge the terror that had befallen their nation. Thus, in late-2001, Lane was appointed as the Executive Officer of a Company at Camp Pendleton, placed in charge of readying those troops for war in the Middle East.

After 18 months of preparing Marines for warfighting in the sandbox, Lane expected to be deployed with his Company to the Middle East. Instead, he was promoted and transferred to command a company in one of the first battalions to be deployed to Iraq. As commander of this company, he was assigned to assisting in establishing Camp Baharia, a installation that would become a key base during the War on Terrorism during the 2000s.

Lane spent the next 5 years on rotation in the Middle East with his Company. During this time he was involved in both Battles of Fallujah amongst many other skirmishes against insurgents.

In the late-2000s, following half a decade of combat, Lane was promoted and reassigned to the United States Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base. In this capacity, he advised and oversaw the Marine involvement in the Goa'uld attack on Earth in 2008. Returning to his routes in the intelligence field in the early 2010s, Lane joined the Marine Cyberspace Command in 2012. There, he worked with an inter-service task force that attempted to learn and adapt technology recovered from Goa'uld vessels following the attack of Earth.

In 2015, Lane was promoted to Lt Colonel and appointed at the military liaison to the United Earth Organisation at Groom Lake Military Base, otherwise known as Area 51. During this time he advised the White House and Earth Coalition about the military's top-secret projects in becoming prepared for a second Goa'uld attack.

In 2021, upon the activation of the Stargate Program, Lane was transferred to McMurdo Base in Antarctica to assist in overseeing the project.
