With a briefing having been called Scarlett made her way to the briefing room. To say she was nervous about being involved in this was an understatement, especially as she was just a civilian. Walking into the briefing room she headed to the nearest empty seat, offering a polite nod to those already present.

Making his way up the spiral steps from the control room of the Stargate, John was in a black uniform with his rank on his color. They were new types of uniforms and for this base, there was no skimping on the amount of money put into it. He wasn't the type to like bling bling, but he was more than happy to wear something that was comfortable and could handle wear and tear. His black shirt was seen as the top was undone, but his pants were tucked into his tight but comfortable boots.

The colonel took a deep breath as he saw a couple of the M.P.s and S.F.s in the corners of either side of doors and steps. It was obvious that they weren't really needed, but were proud of their posting to the base. He then saw the new faces as well on the either sides of the table. He made his way around, already knowing the red headed doctor. She was an interesting person and attractive, to say the least. He knew she was capable, but didn't want to press his luck. In the past, he wouldn't be to worried about pressing his luck with a woman, but this whole station and positions that they were now in had him on edge ever so slightly.

"Uh... Good morning, doctor... Sergeant," John nodded as he pulled back the seat which was next to the sergeant.

The SF security forces sergeant snapped to attention as soon as he saw the colonel enter the room, giving a sharp salute. "Colonel."

“Good morning, Colonel” Scarlett offered a warm smile as she looked towards Raynor.

"At ease, Serge," John replied with a two finger salute. He was a pilot and wasn't to concerned about professionalism really. "Besides, I'm not the general. You keep doing that, and you are going to break your back constantly snapping to attention with all the brass."

Scarlett grinned as she watched the conversation, she couldn’t wait for the briefing to get started.

"Doctor," John nodded with a slight grin. But quickly went to attention himself after the final people joined them. "Room a-ten-hut!"

The door opened and Hannah followed General Lockhart inside. She’d come ready with a pen and a pad incase there were any notes that would be applicable to her. She smiled warmly as she took a seat beside Scarlett. “Good Morning everyone.”

In all honesty Scarlett was starting to get butterflies, she wasn’t used to leading briefings and she was joint lead on this briefing with Raynor. She had no doubt people would have questions, she just hoped she could answer them.

All of the people in the briefing room stood up as General Lockhart came out of his office. He waved at them as he walked to the opposite end of the table and took a seat. "At ease, Colonel, Doctor, you are up."

Looking around the room, which was now packed, John took a deep breath as most of the faces were new to him. He had been on the base for about a month assisting with overseeing the final set up of the base, personal, communications with the leadership, and now he was to brief the new arrivals to what was to be expected at their new assignment here. But this time, he now had help which had a little more knowledge, or rather, understanding of some of the alien technology they now had on base to research and possibly use on base and in the field.

"Good morning, everyone. I am Lieutenant Colonel John Raynor and this is Doctor Scarlett Hayes. You are all here to get a quick briefing on what to expect here on base as far as the mission statement and expectations of this special assignment. You all have received your new comer's briefing with base personal. But this briefing is primarily focused on the details of the SGC itself," John started off as he tapped a button on the remote, which dimmed the lights and the large monitor behind him, outside of the General's office, changed from an icon that rotated, to a screen laying out what seemed like a time frame.

"As everyone knows, in 2009, there was an attack on Earth by extraterrestrials which all major countries were effected. This attack was then throated by the US government with another alien device..." he clicked a button to show images of the ancient weapons platform and active videos of the drone weapons in action coming from the Antarctic ice where drilling had occurred. "... which was under several layers of frozen ice. They call it the Ancient Defense Platform which is basically a landing platform for a much larger city starship, called Atlantis."

There was a lot of silence and skeptics around the room looking at him. He was in the same boat the first time he had heard this information as well. But it only got better.

"The only reason we knew of all this was a year prior, a group called SG-1 came through, yet another alien device..." he paused as the image on the screen changed to the round device which was the very same device that was outside the view ports just to the left of him. "... they called the Stargate, or Chappa'ai in old dialect. Correct me if I'm wrong, Doctor."

Scarlett took a deep breath, “You’re quite correct, Colonel. This is only one of a whole series of Stargates built by the Ancients which create wormholes, allowing for near-instantaneous transportation between two distant points in space. Each has its own particular destination address, which is a combination of six or more non-repeating symbols appearing on the dialing stargate. By "dialing" these symbols in the correct order, you select a destination gate." She looked at a pile of folders that were in the middle of the table. "The folders in-front of you have more information, to explain it all in detail would take a long time!" She smiled as she looked back at Raynor.

John nodded back as he took on the reins once again and tapped a button on the remote. The monitor switched over to active views of the air crafts and some of the dog fights that had been recorded. "I am assuming all of you have seen or heard of the crafts that air forces across the globe went up against in the battle?" He paused as he looked around the room, obviously knowing all had as he changed the images on the screen to show schematics and 3D models rotating to show details from all angles. "These are their some of the craft that we encountered. They vary between small fighter crafts, which we now we know they call, 'Death Gliders'. Which they use dual plasma based cannons on either side of the cockpit. Not the most accurate, but very damaging."

The monitor changed over to the next model. "Next is their shuttlecraft... They never mentioned a special name for them, Doctor?"

“It’s known as a Tel’Tak” Scarlett looked at pyramid shaped vessel on the picture. “It’s primary function is that if a transport ship.

Hannah raised her hand a moment. “Pardon me Doctor but being a civilian how do you know so much about all of this?”

Scarlett looked at Raynor and Lockhart before looking back at those around the table. “Because my mother used to be a host. The species we’re up against are a parasitic race, but there are two factions. There are the Goa’uld who infest a host and use them against their will and there are the Tok’ra that take a willing host and live symbiotically.” She looked at Lockhart.

"Go ahead, Doctor," the General nodded giving her permission to go into detail if she would like to. Otherwise he knew she was more than capable of proceeding on if it was to personal.

Scarlett nodded. “In my mother’s case she was host to a Tok’ra named Shani, but the main point is she was pregnant with me at the time. Both my mother, and Shani died during childbirth, but for some unknown reason I seem to possess some of Shani’s knowledge. To what extent I don’t know. That’s how I came to be chosen for this program.”

Hannah nodded. “Thank you Doctor. Just one more question, as a medical professional I’m curious has it left you with any other side effects?”

Scarlett shook her head, “Not really, but I do have an element called naquadah in my blood now. I have yet to understand exactly what that means.”

Hannah nodded. “Doctor is this naquadah you speak of harmful to others?”

Scarlett shook her head. “Not in the way you’re thinking. According to records from Samantha Carter of SG1 the naquadah she had left in her blood enabled her to sense the presence of a Goa’uld larva in a host and it gave her the ability to operate Goa’uld technology. I can confirm that it works for me too.”

A tall Irish Commandant stood in the back, pretty out of place compared to the rest of the people at the table. His black uniform only had color from his rank insignia, and the patch on his shoulder, denoting him as part of the Irish Army Ranger Wing, their form of special forces. He listened to the conversations and finally started to chime in. "If I may ask," he said in his thick accent, "Why did it save you? From the parts I have read, most of these," he paused for a moment trying to find the right word. "species seem more content with galaxy domination. Most of them seem to have named themselves after some of the God's we believe in. I'm just confused about why they would do anything to help such a subpar species." It was obvious, even though he had fought the aliens on his own continent, he was skeptical. "I believe the Nazi's used the term Untermensch."

Scarlett turned to give the tall Commandant the attention he deserved. “To be honest I can’t truly answer that. All I know is that the Tok’ra value life above all else, they differ from the Goa’uld in that they don’t believe in forcing themselves onto a host.”

"As I know we all would love to hear more about this, and we will at a later date," General Lockhart spoke up as he looked at the briefers. "How about we get back on track. Some of us have a pretty busy schedule the next couple days."

"Right, sir," John nodded and looked at the doctor before he pointed back at the monitor. "We were able to recover at least two Tel’Tak, or shuttles. They do not have weapons, but they do have cloaking technology, makeing the shuttle invisible to radar and visual site. The shuttle also has a shield, but the shield and cloak use the same systems so only one can be ran at a time. The shuttle also has a ring transport," the monitor switched to a couple pictures of the ring device and the controls with several hieroglyphs. "Took the scientists several tries but finally figured out how to activate the systems. Now when it comes to the technology, typically the computer system will pick up on another set of ring pads and automatically transport from there at long distances. But if you reprogram the rings, you are able to transport without them in short distances. So keep this in mind when out in the field. OH, and yes, these are space and atmospheric flight capable and have what are called hyperdrives installed. The U.S. Government has assigned two of these to Stargate Command for our missions as needed. Area 51 have been trying to repair one other, but are missing some primary items. Any questions so far on these?"

The irish officer squinted at the rank and tried to remember his orientation for American rank structure. After a quick second and remember, he looked up. "Colonel, are there thoughts on reverse engineering them for our own fighter jets?"

The colonel shook his head and tapped his remote to go to the next slide. Now there was the alien fighters in one corner of the monitor rotating on its X, Y and Z axis to show the schematics. The rest of the screen was devoted to videos of the alien craft in action, both against earth fighters and test flying a couple repaired death gliders. "Not with the shuttles, but thanks to the SG1 team from the alternate reality, one of the advancements, or rather tests given to us, they laid out their government's plans for several different hybrids.

"At this time, not all of the advancements are fully achievable at this moment. But the one that we did, at least test out ourselves was the alien human hybrid of this fighter, the Death Glider. Capable of space and atmospheric flight. They are fast and maneuverable. On each wing is a larger version of their staff weapons, which we will discuss later. They are not super accurate, but they are very destructive. The wings are able to fold inward for their mother ships to store and launch several waves of these."

The screen changed to show what looked like a highly modified and awkwardly looking death glider. "From a couple of the downed death gliders, as I explained earlier, is our alien/human hybrid attempt of a death glider, called the X-301. Side note," He looked at the group and shrugged. "... it seemed like the program managers and scientists all felt that we should code name our programs the same as the other ... us."

John cleared his throat before finally getting back on track. "The X-301 was our trial of what we can and can not do with this technology. From what I understand, the first flight test we did with this fighter was a success in ways, but its the program was ended shortly after as computer programmers found an embedded program in which caused the autopiloting program to kick in. The fighter was launched into deep space. Luckily, the original test pilot was able to use one of the shuttles and save the test pilots of the X-301," he paused and looked at the group. "Oh and before anyone tries to ask. No, I wasn't the one flying the fighter, I was flying the shuttle. I had come down with the flu but was called in when the autopilot kicked in, got a shot to help me focus and fly. And no, the X-301 is in deep space by now, so we do not have it in order to fix the original issue on that one."

Scarlett sat quiet she wasn’t the one interested in the military side of tech, she had bare knowledge of shuttles and craft. With the irish officer's knowledge locked away she knew very little to be of help in that respect.

"And finally, on the slate is a working design of what they call the X-303 and X-304. The technology and resource are finally being tested and we should see something out of what we have in near future. But for now, expect most of our work through the Stargate. Most of the captured and repaired transport and shuttles have been focused on mining work on the planet named Iciruis. Hence the name, Iciruis mining base, " Raynor explained as he flipped over what was next which would be the weapons technologies. "Any questions?"

“Colonel Sir,” the master sergeant spoke in a Texan undercurrent. Seeing now was a good of a time as ever to ask. Webster rubbed his forehead, taking the information. “Do these Gods have any formal or informal alliances with each other? When Earth was attacked, did any object?”

Colonel looked over at the naval officer and thought for a moment before speaking. "From what was gathered by the SG1 team, they typically do not, but in the instance of the attack, there was one all powerful Goa'uld who lead them and their forces. But from what we understand, they typically do not ally with one another unless its absolutely needed. But that will not doubt be one of the things we are going to go and learn. Any other questions for me before I turn it over to the smaller devices that have been collected from all the wreckage."

Scarlett looked at those gathered waiting to see if anyone wanted to know anything else.

"Sir. I take it this platform left behind by the Ancient Atlanteans will keep us safe for... how long before the next invasion? And we already have a mining colony on this planet named Iciruis? Does this make our immediate goals that of hostile neutralization, information and technology gathering then?" a major asked as she rose her hand before talking, looking at the Colonel still keeping her smirk while her eyes burned with curiosity.

"General?" John asked as he didn't know how much he was to share.

"If they are here, they are clear for that information. You may share, John," General Lockhart approved of along with a nod.

"The Iciruis Mining Project has been well under way for the past two years now once we got the Goa’uld transports repaired and a well understood knowledge of how to fly the space ships. But we only have three. The planet does not have a stargate so we have been trying to figure out how to move one from another planet to that one. We are slowly understanding the technology but our scientists feel as though we can reprogram one to realign with new coordinates. This will be one of our goals is to find a Stargate which is on a planet that is not using their stargate, and repurposing it. The Al’kesh has the space in its cargo bay to transport a stargate in. But it will take time and man power to accomplish this. Until then, we have two of the three Al’kesh and three of the Tel’tak’s travelling back and forth transporting mined naquadah to be refined and used for the X-302, 303, and 304 programs. And so far, we have the first squadron of the F-302 fighters parked on our secondary hanger bay. There going to be here to do a couple training runs with the Death Gliders we have here”

Major Amy Carter had been standing at the back of the room since the meeting had started. It was interesting for sure, she had possibly more access to this data then some of the others in the room given her back ground but a good amount of this was still new to her.

"Sirs" he said, raising a hand slightly to draw attention. "If i may, given that even if the folks over at RPG work their collective assess off it would take a years..." she tilted her head a little, "Months at least. Given I am to command a small unit called SG3 I am assuming that stands for Stargate 3 We are going through the gate yes?" she didn't really allow anyone the time to answer. "Has anyone else exchanged fire with their ground troops?" again not waiting for a reply, "Coz I have and they are formidable, if flawed shock troops. And their" she seared her memory "Staff weapons did you call them. Apt i guess but they at often a one shoot kill weapons!"

Now she stopped talking, even as a Major in the SAS her clearance level was often higher than regular forces. It had given her something of a speak first ask for permission later kind of attitude!

The Master Sergeant looked at the Major, "I have Ma'am. Their weapons are powerful, but I highly doubt they were designed for anything other than spreading terror. They are more than capable to indeed do a one hit, one kill. However, they are extremely flawed as weapons. They are too heavy, a short to medium range weapon at best, and even then the idea of aiming down a long stick, without any aiming aid mind you, is absolutely a bad design."

"Add to that. The Jaffa have a well-established tradition of military excellence, even if the System Lords view them as expendable cannon fodder. And that only makes them even more feared to their masters. Part of the reason the Jaffa serve as incubators for Goa'uld larvae is to remind them that they are nothing without their gods. They fear their own army." Colonel Raynor spoke up. "Some System Lords use drugs or types of mind control on their Jaffa. Others have maintained the illusion that the System Lords are gods for millennia. But make no mistake. Jaffa live to die for their gods. Make sure they die before they make you die for your world."

Amy Carter nodded "We will not be facing these aliens in large units, with time to prepare on our own soil as we did when they landed. What we will be doing is wondering into their territory with little more than 4 people. To under estimate them is to lose," So. She straightened up and took a step away from the wall. "They have strength, numbers and a complete lack of survival instincts and that is a damned dangerous combination. Enough of them and even a prepared defensive line will fail."

“Alrighty…” John remarked as he took in a deep breath before popping his lips before working to regather is thoughts as he searched for the new briefing slides in which he knew what was being discussed by Lockhart. “This one is going to be a doozy, but here we go..”

The slides flashed for a moment and a new Top Secrets page showed as he looked around the room. “As you are all aware, even though the public knows about the world wide alien onslaught and ground assaults, they do not know fully how or why the attack was thwarted. So the ancient Lantean defense platform has been dubbed top secret, along with this newly formed Stargate Program. But the final piece of the puzzle is this,” He tapped his remote button and the image changed to a rotating 3d image of a short grey humanoid alien. Its extremities and body was very thin but its head was larger then what its body looked like it could handle. Its cranial ridge was oddly narrow but slightly taller on the top ever so slightly and its skin was smooth and naked showing no male or female differences with large wide black eyes.

“Most of you have heard or seen of these in some way fashion or form over the past several years. One notably in the U.S. being the Roswell New Mexico ‘crash site’. Most are depicted to be green, but they are actually grey,” John paused to see that it was now completely silent either by complete surprise or misbelief. So he continued.

“They are called the Asgard. They are an advanced race which at one point surpassed the Goa’uld’s own technology and knowledge. But when it came to number, and the fact that they were already stretched thin, they could not stop Ba’al’s forces. But when they detected the destruction of about half the fleet by the hands of the ancient outpost, and saw how we were a formidable threat to the Goa’uld, They came to Earth and were able to watch us for a while. They did not get involved in planet side rebuilding or conflicts, but once we had finally been able to stabilize our governments and cleared the ground assaults from the Jaffa and Goa’uld threat, they made contact with the United States government, and then the newly formed heads of the UEO.

“The Earth and several planets fall under a Protective Planet’s Treaty with the Goa’uld which has been had been in place for centuries until this assault. They would have easily cleared the threat, but in their home galaxy they have been dealing with their own threat. For the time being, they have thoriated the threat. Even still, they have only been able to remind the remaining Goa’uld system lords that any further assault on those planets, will amount to all out war with the Asgard. Reluctantly the Asgard have recently started showing and guiding us in how to use some of the reverse engineered technology our scientists got from the left over Goa’uld technology. Naquadah generators, shields, naquadah enhanced weapons, and even some Goa’uld transporters, have been explained and shown to us in extreme detail by the Asgard. With their help and guidance, we haven’t had to worry about stepping through that gate until now. They are our allies, but they still do not share their technology. Only reason I bring that up is because we have tried talking them into this, but they feel that the Tau’ri race is still young and are not fully capable of understanding the depths of technology that is before us. That hasn’t stopped us from gathering information from them and from what little of the ancient database we have.”

"One of the reasons why I feel we need to make contact with the Tok’ra” Scarlett looked at the group before the General and at Raynor.

The mix of military forces from across North America and commonwealth continues, as well as civilians mixed in with the chain of command was creating confusion. She wasn't normally within the chain of command of most of the people in the room, so normally other than curtsy interaction didn't really happen. However, in this case she was assigned to an international command. It had happened before of course. Major Carter was hoping that there would be less ego and more discipline in the future.

"Sir" she said looking at the General "If we have the need for allies" she started "Then where do we start?" she nodded at the young women who, "It seemed, had intel on these Tok'Ra. Wouldn't the Intelligence Doctor Hayes has be best place to start?"

"That is the plan. We sent the information up to the Asgard representative. We should expect to hear more by this evening," General Lockhart replied as he looked over at the newly arrived Captain. "That being said, I want SG teams 1, 2, 3 prepped and on stand by for deployment tomorrow. Pre-mission meeting at 0800hrs. If there is nothing else, we are going to wrap this up for today. You all have your assignments coming. If you haven't already gotten them, they are coming," The general spoke up as he looked around. As there was silence, he stood, which everyone stood to attention out of respect. "As you were. Thank you Doctor, Colonel."
