| Hobbies & Interests | Marisa loves to fix up old vehicles. Her most recent one was a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle. This is her baby and she loves to take a ride on it whenever she can. Amongst other things she enjoys, Marisa loves to work with wood, and does like to create a small garden, whether it is hydroponics or a little raised garden. Swimming and hiking and scuba diving is another pastime she likes to do. She likes to tinker with machinery, repurposing items she finds to see if she can get them to work. Another thing that she likes to do is play the piano, and do sketching. |
| Personal History | Personal History Marisa was born on March 17th, 1986 to Murray and Helen Harlan. Her place of birth is Gulfport, Mississippi. Her father was in the Seabees and owns a home near the base. Marisa’s childhood could be considered a fairly decent one. She had a loving mother, loving father siblings to get into mischief with, all of them being a lively bunch. Ever since she was young Marisa had grown up with the tales of her great grandfather’s starting career in the Seabees, and that legacy passed down the line to her grandfather to her father and now down to her. . Growing up in the city of Gulfport, Mississippi which was filled with history and culture. It helped to shape Marisa. There is a family autoshop, which her Great Grandfather established with his brother. It is still in operation to this day, Harlan’s Mechanics. Matter of fact it is that very shop that she loved to visit, where she was encouraged to explore her curiosity and attraction to working with her hands, learning at the side of her cousins, her uncle and her father. Her father worked there during the times he wasn’t needed at the base, besides using the workshop he had in the backyard of his home. Marisa divided her time between Harlan’s Mechanics and her dad’s workshop. ====================================================== Family History Notes: Marisa’s Great Grandfather Oliver Logan Harlan had opened a mechanic shop with his brother in 1942 after World War II. Many years later it still bears the name of Harlan Mechanics. Her Great Uncle Cade Benjamin Harlan ran the place while her great grandfather continued in the service of their country for six more years. Great Grandfather after the war participated in what was termed Operation Hi-jump in Antarctica, he was part of that group which built an area where planes could land upon the frozen tundra, and built an experimental facility there. Later on Oliver Logan Harlan, along with his son, Logan Brody ( her grandfather) worked on McMurdo Station, the first station built in Antarctica, February 16, 1956. Her father worked at Harlan’s Mechanic Shop when he was a teen. Marisa’s father has his own workshop in the back yard where he likes to repair and rework items that broke down. He taught his kids how to use tools and how to refurbish equipment. Marisa’s mother was the chef of the home, she loved cooking and planned on working at the local diner where her own parents and grandparents owned and worked and she did as well. When her children got to the age of going into school, she took over running the diner. ============================================== At the age of 18, 2004, after she graduated from highschool, Marisa joined the Seabees, feeling very proud to continue the family history of a Harlan being in the Seabees. She even got to serve with her father and be a part of projects when she got through Basic Training. This took her all over the world on various projects, helping to build housing in one region, setting up bases, clearing roads and making airfields in rural areas. Five years later, Marisa was now 23, life had seemed all well and good, until July 28th, 2009. That was when things completely changed, turning Marisa’s and others' lives upside down. Things were feeling rather surreal. Above in the sky could be seen alien ships, causing confusion and dread within the hearts of those who witnessed it. Marisa remembered seeing that from the porch of her parents home. She had believed that there was life amongst the stars, and believed that there were alien encounters. Marisa also believed that the human race wasn't alone in the universe. Those ships up there proved it. It was a sleepless night for many, including Marisa keeping watch. Ba'al attacked, devastating weapon fire attacking several major cities causing widespread destruction. Return weapon fire came from Earth, several explosions were seen, and then it was quiet. Citizens of Earth were stunned by this event, those in the military were summoned from time off and were gathered to help start the rebuild. Marisa had seen the images from both World Wars, as well as other wars that had followed afterwards. She never thought she would be experiencing this sort of devastation in her lifetime. Now though it was time to rebuild people’s homes, their businesses, and help them to heal the wounds that were caused by Baal's attack. Life events Marisa got married at age 28, 2014 to Abner Geraud, they had been dating for a couple of years, he was part of the cook staff at the Gulfport base. The marriage lasted for four years then, it collapsed. Marisa and Abner had a huge fight when she discovered he had been stealing from the base, and was in debt to a loan shark. Marisa felt so stupid when she found out what he had been doing while she was away. He was sent to prison, and she had to resume her life after the trial was over. Marisa threw herself into her work not having the desire to date for a little bit. In 2018 Marisa attended the retirement of her father from the Seabees. It was a bittersweet occasion, for her and the family. Six years passed by,during which she went from one project to another, both on land and underwater, she had several attempts at relationships, they never seemed to get beyond a certain timeframe, for now Marisa decided to not worry about it.It was now 2024, she was being called to be a part of a project that was being done at Antarctica she was very excited about this. |
