Mission: Jumping Right In
Location: Danroth
655 words - 1.3 OF Standard Post Measure

Thayara moved through the Chappa'ai quickly, glancing around fast to ensure she was not running in to enemy fire. Her feet took her down the stone steps and in to the underbrush surrounding the great ring. This planet, known to her as Danroth, was unpopulated. It was rumored though that it wasn't exactly true, and that was why she was here. Alone.

She paused once she was behind a vast tree and took a moment to get her bearings. There was the sound of insects, the loud annoying buzzing broken by the screech of birds scattered about. Leaves in the distanced fluttered with the wind, and the creature's scampering among the branches.

The scent of moss and wet dirt filled the air was a drop of sweat formed on Thays forehead and down her neck. This place was humid. At first glance she could see no evidence of any living intelligence having used the ring and the path going from it. Trees and moss were growing over the old stones and the dialing pedestal.

So why did her contacts believe there were vulnerable Goa'uld here? If there were Goa'uld there were Jaffa, there were larva which would save the lives of her people.

She shifted her staff and ventured in to the open, looking more closely at the over grown trail and rocks. There was some breakage in the plants, and now she was seeing some softer tracks. Not the evidence of Jaffa and a Goa'uld with their entourage she would expect. It was still possible, however. Some of the smaller underlings of the so called gods traveled with very few companions. Still why were they here and where did they go?

Slowly Thay began to follow the trail of broken foliage and tracks she saw deeper in to the jungle. She could see ruins of a village which had been leveled long before even her grand parents had been born and kept in service of Moloc. It was near the center of this abandoned place, with only a few stones left upon one another that the trail stopped. Just stopped.

With frustration Thayara turned in a circle. She walked around the spot several times looking at it from other angels, looking for where the trail might pick up again. Nothing.

Tipping her head she crouched down at the spot where the trail had ended and suddenly it hit her. Rings! There were rings in this spot, what a strange place for rings. With this thought in mind she knew she was going to have to just wait to see who was here, and where they were hiding. DId they have a ship above, cloaked some how?

Prepared to give it some time Thay carefully moved out of the ruins and back in to the cover of the trees. They were high, higher than any she had ever seen, and clearly very old. The benefit was, she had no doubts it would be a strong enough tree for her to hide in. She strapped her staff to her back and ensured her other supplies were well attached. She pulled on a few vines until she was certain they were strong enough to hold her weight. With great effort she climbed the tree until it reached well above any ruins.

She could see all of them from here, and most of the over grown trail back to the Chappa'ai. The Ring itself was sheltered from view due to the fast viney, jungle trees, but she'd likely hear it if it activated. She settled in to the wide crook of the tree and leaned against the truck. This sort of tree was so large and old the crook was larger than most beds she'd ever slept in. At least she could be comfortable while she watched for a time to see if These Goa'uld and their Jaffa showed themselves. It might be a long couple of days...
