Valkyrie Debriefing

Posted on Fri Dec 22nd, 2023 @ 7:14pm by Major General Richard Lockhart (Raynor) & Lieutenant Colonel Jonathon Raynor & Scarlett Hayes Dr. & Petty Officer Second Class Samuel "Bones" Renfroe SARC, EMT-P & Major Amy Carter

Mission: The Rise of the Valkyrie
Location: Briefing Room - SGC
2054 words - 4.1 OF Standard Post Measure

General Lockhart sat at the head of the table, a stern expression on his face. The members of SG-1, along with other key personnel who participated in the Valkyrie mission, filled the room. The atmosphere was charged with a mix of curiosity and tension.

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen," Lockhart began, tapping a pen against a notepad, "we've successfully returned from the Valkyrie mission. I want a detailed debriefing on what transpired. Colonel Raynor, you led this mission, so start us off."

Colonel Raynor stood, nodding to the general, "Thank you, sir. Our primary objective was to establish contact with the Valkyries and explore the possibility of an alliance. We encountered the Valkyrie, or rather got captured by their warriors. We were brought before their Counsel."

He took a moment to turn and present the guests that were beside him. "Their leader, Queen Freyja, is the mother of the symbiote of the Valkyrie, similar to the Tok'ra. Ryr'ton is their military commander, a Jaffa female. The Jaffa, loyal to the Valkyrie, raise the infant symbiotes to adulthood where they join with a willing human host or choose to sacrifice their lives, rather than forcing the bond blindly."

Queen Freyja, seated beside Colonel Raynor, spoke up in a regal tone, "Indeed, General. Our alliance with the Tau'ri is a matter of mutual interest. The threat of the Goa'uld is one we both face, and cooperation is necessary for the survival of both our peoples."

Commander Ryr'ton, standing tall and formidable, added, "Our Jaffa serve the Valkyrie willingly, and our symbiotes are raised with care. They have the choice to bond with a human host or embrace their destiny with dignity. We are not like the Goa'uld, forcing submission upon our brethren."

Raynor nodded, "They are willing to open discussions for a potential alliance, but at the moment, they have more pressing matters to worry about. They have their own history with the Goa'uld and are understandably wary of outsiders. Queen Freyja has shown interest in collaboration, but a full alliance will require careful negotiations."

"That is not to say, we are ungrateful of you and your people assisting us and giving us refuge here, General," Queen Freyja spoke up, nodding.

"It is our pleasure, Queen Freyja. Do you have a location in mind for your new settlement?" Lockhart asked as he looked at the holographic map displayed on the briefing room screen.

Freyja considered for a moment before responding, "We have identified a suitable area, not far from your Stargate Command. The proximity will facilitate communication and collaboration between our peoples. We aim to establish a peaceful coexistence while contributing to Earth's defenses against the Goa'uld threat."

Lockhart nodded, "That sounds reasonable. We'll provide the necessary resources and support for the construction. Once your settlement is established, we can further discuss the terms of our alliance and how we can mutually benefit each other."

"Thank you, General Lockhart. Your willingness to work with us is appreciated," Freyja acknowledged.

"Your generosity is noted, General Lockhart. We are ready to contribute to the defense of this world," Ryr'ton declared with a firm nod.

Lockhart addressed the entire assembly, "Let's work together to make this alliance a success. Queen Freyja, Commander Ryr'ton, welcome to Earth. We will ensure your settlement and integration efforts proceed smoothly. If there are any concerns or requirements, do not hesitate to communicate them."

Raynor continued, "Queen Freyja and Ryr'ton's insight into the internal strife among the Valkyries is essential. Thayara, the Tok'ra with us, confirmed that there are disagreements within the new High Council of the Goa'uld System Lords. Which, seems like a flimsy title if you ask me."

"New Goa'uld System Lords. We had surmised the possibility of a new Goa'uld System Lord set up after all that happened over the years.

Lockhart nodded, "Internal conflicts among potential allies... it is to be expected."

John looked around the room and took a deep breath. "Anyone else have something to add to this or thoughts... or questions?"

Amy had listened, she had been part of the mission and had used her stealth specialty to help clear the gate. Now she had changed back into her base uniform and was stood leaning on the wall at the back. Not yet having an assignment she didn't really feel like she should be sat at he table.

"When you say build defenses" she started standing straight "What would that look like? Ground to orbit weapons? Orbital platforms? ships and fighters?" She was interested, she was unlikely to be directly involved in building or manning any of them but she did want to know.

Lockhart acknowledged Amy's question, "Enhancing our defenses involves a multi-faceted approach. While ground-to-orbit weapons, orbital platforms, and ships play a role, we also need to focus on intelligence gathering, joint missions, and strategic planning. Hopefully, you can agree," he paused and nodded at their guests." we maybe able to work closely with your people, Queen Freyja and Commander Ryr'ton, to ensure our tactics are aligned and effective. Cooperation will be key in addressing the threats posed by the new Goa'uld System Lords. Your expertise in stealth and reconnaissance will undoubtedly be valuable in these endeavors."

Queen Freyja, after a moment of contemplation, spoke with a regal demeanor, "Major, General, our people are well-versed in various forms of defense strategies. While we may not possess your advanced technology, our knowledge and experience in dealing with the Goa'uld threat can be a valuable asset. We suggest a sharing of tactics and joint training exercises to ensure seamless cooperation."

Commander Ryr'ton added, "Indeed, Queen Freyja is correct. Our expertise in ground warfare and Jaffa combat techniques can complement your existing capabilities. Joint missions will provide an opportunity for our forces to learn from each other and adapt to different styles of warfare. Additionally, establishing secure communication channels for real-time information exchange will be crucial in responding to potential threats swiftly."

Lockhart nodded in agreement, "Coordinated efforts are key to success. We'll organize training sessions and develop a communication infrastructure to facilitate seamless collaboration."

"Of course, when we are able to settle into our new location," Commander Ryr'ton explained, they had already deal with more then enough for the day. To make an alliance and plans that could take a while to implement wasn't on his list of top priorities.

"Makes sense. We are still dipping out toes into exploring what is out there, and what is going on," John admitted with a slight nod of agreement.

Amy kept her face natural but she did have concerns. The three cultures had very different ways to prosecuting warfare. Sure two of those races had been doing so with advanced technology for a long time but Earth had been perfecting warfare for tens of thousands of years. She knew, for sure that they could learn from each other.

"General" she started stopping looking for the right words. "I don't want to rock the boat" she said glancing at the aliens with a slight smile "But I have concerns, its true we are new to this galactic stage but the invasion and our last missions showed us that the Jaffa way of fighting has less in common with our own methods and more of the set battles 2 or 3 hundred years ago. We are effective fighters and have won every battle we have fought to date, with minimal losses at that." she paused "I guess I am concerned that our way of conflict will not be compatible with the Queen's or the Commanders"

Scarlett sat taking in everything that was being said. “If my time as a host to a Tok’ra symbiont taught me anything, it’s not to underestimate anyone especially the Jaffa. There is much to learn from other cultures, we should be willing to accept and work with what is on offer.”

Carter nodded "I understand that every culture has much to offer, that is not my point" she was trying to remain civil but she was not a people person... like at all. "My concern is the meshing of combat doctrine, we all fight very differently and from what I have seen of Jaffa doctrine it would be hard to intergrade that with our own. I fought in the invasion, and they sent wave after wave of troops to break our lines with no regard for their own losses. That's not how we fight."

Samuel Spoke with a heavy southern drawl " To barrow Marine's credo we improvise, adapt, and overcome, we have had to change combat doctrine before, we have gone from massive armies lining a few hundred yards from each other, to trench warfare, to guerilla tactics, to maneuver warfare and now a combination of the last two. We seemed to have forgotten we had dealt with this kind of fanatism before the kamikazes of world two, and more recently Alqilda and the Taliban."

General Lockhart, absorbing the various perspectives, leaned forward and addressed the room, "These are valid concerns, and it's crucial that we address them head-on. Major Reynolds, you bring up an excellent point about adapting our combat doctrines. We've faced shifts in warfare throughout history, and this is no different. We must find a balance that leverages the strengths of each culture while maintaining our own principles."

He turned his attention to Commander Ryr'ton and Queen Freyja, "Our way of warfare is more decentralized and relies on quick adaptability. We'll need to find common ground, understanding that each culture has its unique strengths. Joint training exercises will be pivotal in learning from one another and forging a cohesive strategy. Flexibility and open communication will be the keys to our success."

Queen Freyja, recognizing the concerns, added, "Major Carter, your apprehensions are valid. It is why open dialogue and joint exercises are essential. We will not force our strategies upon you, but strive for a cooperative approach that respects the strengths of each culture."

Commander Ryr'ton, with a nod of agreement, remarked, "Indeed. Our goal is not to impose our ways but to complement and enhance the collective strengths of our forces. We are open to understanding and integrating your tactics into our strategies."

General Lockhart concluded, "Let's take this as an opportunity to evolve and grow stronger together. Major Reynolds, your concerns are shared, and we'll work closely to ensure a seamless integration of our combat doctrines. We'll start with small-scale joint training exercises and gradually expand. It's a learning process for all of us, but I believe in the strength of cooperation. Any further concerns or questions?"

The room fell into a brief silence as the members of the SG teams and the gathered personnel absorbed the gravity of the alliance and the challenges ahead.

General Lockhart leaned back in his chair, his gaze encompassing everyone in the room. The weight of the alliance and the shared responsibilities hung in the air. Breaking the momentary silence, he spoke with a measured tone, "This is not just an alliance of necessity; it's an alliance born out of shared threats and a common goal. As we move forward, remember that our differences are what make us strong. Together, we'll navigate uncharted territories, both among the stars and within our strategies."

He shifted his attention to the holographic map on the briefing room screen, indicating the potential location for the Valkyrie settlement, "Our collaboration will extend beyond the battlefield. We're not just forging an alliance against a common enemy; we're building a foundation for mutual prosperity and understanding."

Addressing everyone in the room, he continued, "The road ahead is challenging, but I have confidence in each one of you. We'll start with small steps, joint training exercises, cultural exchanges, and, most importantly, open communication. Our success will be defined by how well we adapt and learn from one another. So, let's embark on this journey together, united in purpose and bound by the shared commitment to defend our world."

General Lockhart stood, signaling the end of the debriefing. "Thank you all for your contributions. Let's get to work. Queen Freyja, Commander Ryr'ton, welcome to Earth. Let's make history together."

The room gradually stirred back to life as the SG teams and personnel began to disperse, their minds filled with the tasks that lay ahead and the promise of a new era of collaboration and defense.
